The managing director of the Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, Femi Olaleye, was sentenced to life imprisonment on Tuesday for raping his wife’s niece.
Rahman Oshodi, the judge at the special offences and domestic violence court in Lagos, ruled that Olaleye should serve life imprisonment for count one and the same for count two.
Also, Justice Oshodi said the sentencing should run concurrently.
Olaleye was arraigned on November 20, 2022, by the Lagos State government on a two-count charge of defilement of a child and sexual assault by penetration.
Meanwhile, Healthnika gathered in a 2022 interview with presenters of the TVC Programme, Your View, Dr. Olaleye’s wife, Aderemi, had said the accused had done the same thing to his ex-wife’s niece.
During the trial, Aderemi told the court that her husband introduced the underage victim to pornography and oral sex.
He was accused of sexually violating the victim for over 20 months.
However, Dr. Olaleye pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.
Justice Oshodi said that the evidence adduced before the court against the defendant was compelling and proved the offences beyond reasonable doubt.
According him, the confessional statement of the defendant, made before his lawyer, Mr Olalekan Buruji, and the DPO of Anthony Police Station, in which he stated that he regretted his act, proved that he committed the offences.
The judge said that the oral statement which the defendant denied, had the Buruji’s NBA seal on it and his denial did not hold waters.
Dr. Femi Olaleye offered rape victims N400,000 to change narrative, says Anthonia Ojenagbon, the founder of the Tonia Bruised But Not Broken foundation.
